About voter ID laws . . .

“Spectacular. According to Texas’s new Voter ID laws, a veteran’s ID or student ID will NOT be acceptable as identification, even with photos on them. A concealed handgun license IS acceptable. Can we just let them secede NOW? (Janice Hough)”

This is one of the most concise proofs I have seen of the fact that liberals just absolutely have no grasp of so-called “voting rights”.

First of all, voting was NEVER a right.  From day one, the US has always restricted voting in one way or another.  Initially, only white males who owned land could vote, anywhere in the colonies.  Nobody who was denied voting then is allowed to vote now, unless there has been specific legislation or court actions passed into law granting them that privilege.  As an example, I don’t know of any state that allows incarcerated felons to vote.

Secondly, they fail to grasp that the US Constitution puts the responsibility for controlling voting access ON THE STATE, not the federal government.  Therefore, it is possible to have a federally-issued ID (like a veteran’s ID, or a military ID) and not be legally eligible to vote IN THAT STATE.  When I was in the military, my Geneva Convention Card didn’t even list my home state or address.  Likewise, a student ID card is issued by the school, not the state, and still does not prove that you have a legal right to vote IN THAT STATE, because the school can issue a valid school ID to any registered student – from anywhere in the world.  Our local university has full-time students from the Philippine Islands, India, China, Japan, and Russia.  None of them can legally vote.

However, a Concealed Handgun permit that was issued by the state you are attempting to vote in IS a state-issued ID, and if the state accepts that it DOES meet the test of proving you are legally allowed to vote within that state, there is no reason it can’t be used.  Any questions?

      • Oh man…that stinks for sure! UGH… I get them from time to time, not fun at all. Hope you tried to eat a bit with the meds… 😞😜

      • Yes. I’ve been at this for about 15 years now. The new med is because the migraines were getting stronger and lasting longer. I get about 3 a month (sometimes 4) and they last from 3 to 4 days each.

      • The bad part is, I know what causes them, and there is nothing that can be done. They are a known side-effect of long-term use of prescription pain killers, like those taken by someone who’s been a disabled veteran for 32 years.

      • Wow, that does stink. You, however, have peeked my interest because I get headaches allllll the time and migranins semi-frequently….I was on prescriptions pain killers for awhile due to a very long surgical history. Off them but still get headaches….interesting my friend. Now that I just made that about me, sorry, what, if anything, can they do for you??

      • That is the part that stinks. They try these different meds to control the migraines, but mostly fail and then blame me when I get sick of it and tell them I don’t like being a guinea pig. The only med they have tried in 15 years that actually did prevent the migraines also caused hallucinations. When I reported that to the doctor, I asked him which I should choose, since neither allowed me to function normally. He said I should stick with the med. I said he was an ass, and asked to be assigned to a different clinic.

It reminds me of a very bad old joke: What do you call the guy who graduates from med school at the bottom of his class? Doctor.
