As regular readers know, I’ve been actively trying to arrest the slow, steady increase in my weight for over 5 years. Many things I tried worked for small, short-term weight loss. Ultimately, I would hit a plateau and start putting the weight back on. At the beginning of this year I was desperate for change. A little over 32 years ago, I left the US Army weighing a more-or-less fit 155 pounds. In January, 2015, I weighed 248 – on the scales at a VA hospital.
That was when I tried the Paleo Diet for the first time. Since then I have written a few updates tracking what progress I had to report – and admitting my own failure (when I made a trip to another VA Hospital and ate pancakes during the trip).
So, today I have another update. It is quite a benchmark.
I am now down to 206.8 pounds (on my home scale). I have (more or less) officially lost over 40 pounds doing the Paleo Diet, and the weight continues to drop. Very slowly, but it is going, and best of all – no requirement for doing exercises that my disability won’t tolerate.
