Flash Mobs . . .

A rather recent phenomenon in social media has been people hiring agencies to do flash mob scenes for special events, such as marriage proposals. A flash mob is a loosely defined event where a group of seemingly unrelated participants suddenly surround the “target” and break into a choreographed song and dance routine, usually with an objective (like the aforementioned marriage proposal).

One of the very best flash mob scenes I’ve seen committed to film was in season 5 of the Netflix TV series “Lucifer”. It’s early in an episode titled “Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam”. The sequence is set to the song by Queen called “Another One Bites The Dust” – and it is spectacular for many reasons.

First, it is just extremely well choreographed. Second, the sharing of the lines of the song among the major characters of the cast is superb. But, there is an underlying aspect of the song that, IMHO, makes it a real gem.

The entire thing is, in the story line, caused by the character called “God”. God not only used “Another One Bites the Dust” – but in doing so he used a song that was written by an openly bi-sexual man and recorded by one of the best Rock bands of all time (again, IMHO). So much for the concept that God would denounce such a lifestyle!

If you want to watch a flash mob scene that approaches perfection, this is something to see. I truly hope that you have access to Netflix streaming service so you can watch it.
