My wife and I watch a lot of stuff on Netflix, mostly because we’re cord cutters. For those who haven’t heard of cord cutters, we’re people who no longer watch any form of live broadcast television network, and we don’t have subscriptions to cable TV or satellite dishes.
A few years ago, one of the smartest women I know told us about this series of short videos called TED TALKS. TED is the initials for something – I think it is Technology, Education, Development but I’m not certain. Since then, we’ve watched several of the TED Talks series, including “Life Hacks”. The Life Hacks series is about simple ideas to make your daily life more manageable.
Last week, I noticed that there is now a Life Hacks 2 series. Over the weekend, we watched all 10 episodes. I was really impressed with the ideas presented, but 2 of the talks caught my attention in a big way. I’d recommend watching them all (it would only take about 2 hours) but if you can only pick one or two – the stellar standouts of the series are (IMHO) Ruth Cheng talking about how to make hard choices, and Jullian Treasure talking about how to speak in such a way that others want to listen.
Finally, I watched the TED Talks: Hot Buttons series on my own. One particularly impressive talk was Michael Sandel speaking on the talk titled “Why we shouldn’t trust markets with our civic life”.
